COVID-19

I have tested positive to COVID-19, now what?

You must do the following:

  • Stay home until your acute symptoms have cleared (usually 5 to 7 days)

  • If you must leave the house, wear a mask when indoors or on public transport.

  • Avoid large gatherings and crowded indoor spaces.

  • Don't visit people at high risk of severe illness, or anyone in a hospital, or aged or disability care facility for at least 7 days.

  • Speak with your employer about when to return to work. If you work in a high-risk setting such a health, disability and aged care, you might need to stay away from work longer to protect other staff, patients, residents and clients.

If you test positive for COVID-19, you may be infectious for up to 10 days but you are most infectious in the two days before your symptoms start and while you have symptoms (runny nose, sore throat, cough and fever).

Visit SA Health's: Positive for COVID-19 webpage for more information.

I am a close contact. What do I do?

  • Monitor for symptoms. If you get sick you should get PCR tested and stay at home until you are well.

  • Don't visit people at high risk of severe illness, or anyone in hospital, or aged care or disability care facility. If you have to visit, do a rapid antigen test before you go.

  • Notify your employer, school or childcare setting that you are a close contact.

  • Wear a mask when in indoor places and on public transport

  • Frequent rapid antigen testing to help identify an infection early.

Our position

Hanson Road Medical Clinic is committed to providing high quality health care, as well as creating a safe workplace and practice for patients to seek essential health care.

We recognize that most of our patients will be seeking non-COVID related health care, and we are committed to continuing to provide such care during times of high transmission of COVID-19 in the community.  Hanson Road Medical Clinic has ensured its doctors and staff have complied with the SA Government mandatory vaccination for healthcare workers. We encourage everyone to seek vaccination for COVID-19.

We will continue to provide medical care to any patient (vaccinated or unvaccinated).

We are implementing measures to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 within our practice and our community that may result in Hanson Road Medical Clinic being unable to provide essential medical care.

We are continuing to see children for routine immunisations. Please call and speak to our friendly reception staff to book and confirm any requirements prior to your child's appointment.

What we are doing

We are implementing a number of precautionary measures in line with SA Health’s COVID-19 exposure risk assessment.
These measures include:

  • Assess risk to patients, doctors and staff, based on: level of community transmission, appointment type being sought, and symptoms.

  • Triage patients based on clinical need.

  • Provide doctors and staff with additional personal protective equipment.

  • Limit the number of non-essential visitors to the practice.

  • Physical distancing in the waiting room, including asking patients to wait outside, in their cars or in an available room.

  • Ensuring all our doctors and staff are vaccinated for COVID-19.

  • Utilise telehealth and e-scripts to reduce non-essential face-to-face contact.

What YOU can do to help us

We ask our patients to work with us to enable the practice to continue ‘business-as-(almost)-usual’. You can help us by:

  • Showing kindness and respect to all staff. They are required to ask you a lot more (and the same) questions when you make an appointment and when you attend an appointment.

  • Get a COVID-19 swab when you first develop respiratory symptoms or begin feeling unwell.

  • If you are able, wear a surgical mask to your appointment (we can provide you with a surgical mask if you don’t have one) and sanitise your hands upon entry and exit of the practice.

THANK YOU!
